Every writer has that first spark—the story that clings to them long after it’s told. For some, it’s a bedtime tale from a grandparent or a ghost story whispered under the stars. For me, it began with stories *about* stories. I remember sitting quietly, listening to older relatives swap memories of radio dramas that used to crackle through the airwaves. Their eyes would light up as they described the voices, the suspense, the way the smallest sound—a creaking door or the whistle of wind—could send shivers down their spine. It wasn’t just the plots that fascinated me; it was how these stories lingered, even without pages to hold them.
That idea stuck with me—the magic of storytelling, not just as a way to pass the time but as a way to leave a mark. I became obsessed with how tales could live on, carried by memory, retold and reshaped across generations. I wanted to create something that might resonate the same way—a story someone would carry with them, the way those old radio dramas lived in the hearts of those who heard them. That’s how my journey as a writer began, chasing that fleeting spark of connection, hoping that one day, my words might hum quietly in someone’s mind long after the last page was turned.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had vivid dreams—flashes of other worlds, gripping adventures, and characters as real to me as people I know. These dreams and flurries of ideas would come to me at the most unexpected times, filling my mind with stories that begged to be told. But for years, I struggled to find the right framework to take those swirling concepts from my imagination and translate them onto the page. I knew the stories were there, but they felt elusive, scattered, difficult to piece together.
Then, I stumbled upon Lester Dent’s work. His formula for writing pulp fiction, especially in shorter formats, was a revelation. It was like a key to unlocking something deep inside of me. Dent’s structured approach showed me that a well-crafted story didn’t have to be a sprawling epic to be powerful. His ability to weave suspense, action, and character into tightly packed narratives spoke directly to my soul. It was the brevity and sharpness of his work that truly captivated me. I realized that what I’d been searching for all along was the freedom to immerse myself—and my readers—in another world, even if only for a few hours.
Shorter works of fiction suddenly became my passion. They offered me a way to dive deep into a setting, explore a character’s journey, or capture a fleeting moment of tension, without being bogged down by the enormity of a full-length novel. The constraints of the format felt less like limitations and more like a liberating playground where every sentence mattered. Writing became less about the daunting task of creating something grand and more about focusing on telling the best story I could in a smaller space.
It was Dent’s work that taught me the beauty of conciseness, the art of delivering a story with impact in fewer pages. I finally found the structure I had been missing, and that structure gave me the confidence to put my thoughts on paper. Each story became a new dream realized, no longer fleeting, but something tangible I could share with the world.
I’ve come to embrace the art of the novelette—the perfect balance of depth and brevity. It’s where I’ve found my voice, where I can slip into another world, even if just for a few hours, and take others with me.
Tired of the ho-hum drudge of work, I found myself yearning for more than the repetitive grind of daily life. I wanted to lose myself amidst my dreams, to explore the worlds and characters that danced at the edges of my thoughts, whispering their stories to me in moments of quiet. As I got older, that desire deepened, growing into something more—a need to build, to craft, to create. In my case, that "something" was stories, vivid and immersive worlds where I could lose myself but, more importantly, where I could invite others to join me.
I wanted to engage readers, to captivate their imaginations as I had been captivated by so many stories before. But it wasn’t just about telling tales—it was about inspiring others, showing them that there was more beyond the grind. There was passion, there was creativity, and whether that passion lay in writing, art, or any pursuit, it deserved to be followed.
I longed to grow as a writer, to stretch beyond the confines of my own mind and the small desk where I 'pen to paper' so to speak, tucked away in the comfort of my home. I wanted to take those words and push them out into the world, to see them breathe and move through the hearts of others. And that’s when I realized: this wasn’t just a hobby. It was a calling. So, I pursued it in earnest, driven by a need to create something lasting, something meaningful—something that could light a fire in the hearts of others just as writing had done for me.
As I pen each story, I pour a piece of myself into the pages, hoping that readers will feel the same spark that ignited my imagination. I want them to enjoy my work as much as I enjoyed creating it, to find wonder in the worlds I’ve crafted and to join me on this journey as I continue to write and grow as an author. Every story is a step forward, and with each new one, I hope to inspire, entertain, and share this adventure with those willing to walk beside me.
Mustering up some courage, I shared my writing with a few friends who are avid readers. Their feedback was honest—some of it harsh, but all of it welcomed. I needed to hear it, to grow from it. Yet, amid the critiques, I saw something more: their enjoyment, their engagement with the characters and stories I had brought to life. It was their enthusiasm that pushed me to take the plunge.
I realized I wanted to dedicate myself to this craft, not only by working on my stories but by building something larger—a brand, a community where fellow storytellers and readers could connect. And so, the TeaHouse & ScribeCraft was born, a space where stories and creativity flow as freely as tea, a place to share, learn, and grow together.
I'm currently working on releasing my first series, with the first novelettes set to debut is Glass Serpent of the Cara Alchemist of the Wilds: Volume 1 series. I wanted to craft tales that immerse readers in fantastic and enchanting worlds, filled with magic and adventure, but short enough to be enjoyed in a single afternoon. Whether you're waiting for a flight or simply looking for something lighter than the larger epics like *Priory of the Orange Tree*, these stories are meant to give you a brief yet memorable escape into the extraordinary.
After the debut of Glass Serpent, my focus will shift to growing the TeaHouse & ScribeCraft brand and fostering a community. I hope to engage with fellow authors, readers, tea lovers, and those curious about the creative process. While I'll be dedicating time to this new venture, I'll also continue developing upcoming novelettes and series. The journey is just beginning, with new stories always on the horizon, and I’m eager to share it with those who join me.
In the future, you can expect two more series to join the ranks of Cara Alchemist of the Wilds which are Lafayette: Legends Bane and Victor Crane: Steamed Machinations. These will be followed by my most ambitious project yet, Whispers Beneath the Apple Tree. As these series roll out, I hope the community continues to grow, the TeaHouse & ScribeCraft brand thrives, and we all journey together toward a brighter, more creative future.
